One third of the patients that suffer from pharmacoresistant focal epilepsy are potential candidates for therapeutic surgery. The goal of epilepsy surgery is to remove, disconnect or inactivate the epileptogenic cortex to obtain seizure freedom. A correct presurgical identification of the epileptogenic zone (EZ) has an impact on postsurgical outcome. In 20\u201350% of the patients candidate to surgery, invasive recordings by intracerebral stereo-electroencephalographic (SEEG) electrodes is necessary to identify the boundaries of the EZ. This Epilepsiechirurgie und SEEG Group founded to research, develop and apply a new technological approaches to facilitate this process. A full spectrum of the available technics (Video-EEG, MRI, PET, SPECT, SEEG) are used to identify biomarkers for the epileptogenic network during presurgical evaluation and SEEG implantation planning. The main focus of the group is developing a computational tools for SEEG analisys, seizure detection and surgery planning. This require a strong multidisciplinary expertise and collaborations.
