The goal of epilepsy surgery is to remove, disconnect or inactivate the epileptogenic cortex to obtain seizure freedom. A correct presurgical identification of the epileptogenic zone (EZ) has an impact on postsurgical outcome. In 20\u201350% of the patients candidate to surgery, invasive recordings by intracerebral stereo-electroencephalographic (SEEG) electrodes is necessary to identify the boundaries of the EZ. This Epilepsiechirurgie und SEEG Group founded to research, develop and apply a new technological approaches to facilitate this process. A full spectrum of the available technics (Video-EEG, MRI, PET, SPECT, SEEG) are used to identify biomarkers for the epileptogenic network during presurgical evaluation and SEEG implantation planning. The main focus of the group is developing a computational tools for SEEG analisys, seizure detection and surgery planning. This require a strong multidisciplinary expertise and collaborations. We are open to motivated persons to join us in this adventure. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One third of the patients that suffer from pharmacoresistant focal epilepsy are potential candidates for therapeutic surgery.
